Freedom of Speech

I met Michael Krizanc in Elliot Lake , he seemed sincere and made it very clear that he was at The Hampton in because he was invited by the Elliot Lake council. Because we are a mining community the repository cannot be built where there may be minerals as that may impact resources for the next generation.
The Chapleau area was mentioned as a likely location but it was immediately stated that they had not invited the nwmo
and accordingly they are not a likely candidate.
"We want to foster a dialogue of respect, so people can feel safe in expressing their views," said NWMO communications manager Michael Krizanc, who said he has no opposition to differing views, as they are needed in the process...."This is going to attract the world's attention when it's underway," said Krizanc.

The way I see and predict it

For over half a century Uranium and Radioactivity has been major part of our development.
I was introduced to Uranium in 1955 when I first came to Elliot Lake.
With the Atom Bomb the world was introduced to the true object  and weapon of mass destruction.
Nuclear energy has similar qualities to the chameleon. It can be used for defense and it can be used to supply us with services that meet our  needs
What remains is the dilema , to dispense of a substance which is made to last indefinitely .
Used nuclear fuel rods must be stored and everyones concern is  the terms safety and security and rightly so.
The engineers and architects which built the mall which collapsed on our heads are from the same generation , the one  which is contemplating building a nuclear repository which will have to last for thousands of years and that is scary.
Just a slight indication that something is brewing off - kilter :
2 ,500 aboriginals were hired for the preliminaries and aboriginal traditional knowledge is essential to a complete study.
This may be intepreted in a variety of ways but as I SEE IT
The reactors are all in and supplying heavily populated areas , and when the time comes ,Canadians will not have a choice as to where millions of used candu fuel rods will be stored , this is not an optional issue , it is life or death issue for  the country , and I think the aboriginals are sittng on the best piece of real estate , What will be traded this time maybe in the works , but either way the Nuclear Waste Management will take the actions which they deem to be best for all of Canada . The enriched uranium project will not be for the purpose of enriching any particular area with the input of  billions of dollars , the project will be solely for the purpose of survival , Survival of Canada and all its people.
nwmo came to Elliot Lake today as they were invited by the Elliot Lake council, I just wish more residents would have been aware of this . Groups of school children were present and had a great tour at the Hampton Inn , hopefully they will convey the events of the day  to their parents and grandparents as their future is at stake. http://elliotlakenews.blogspot.com
